Meet our Connaught Scholars

Update on the Connaught Fund’s 3-Year Review

Thank you for your response to the Connaught survey.

Responses were invited from a broad spectrum of the University of Toronto research community.  Your feedback in this survey enables us to properly determine future directions for the Connaught Fund.

What’s next?

The Connaught Committee will be undergoing an analysis of respondents’ feedback received up to October 31st, and will be meeting in early December to consider your input and make decisions regarding future Connaught Fund programming.

Overview of the Connaught Fund and the Current 3-Year Review:

The University of Toronto is extremely fortunate to have the Connaught Fund, a designated endowment arising from the University’s 1972 sale of the Connaught Laboratories.  The fund generates approximately $3.5M annually to support research, innovation and graduate training across all disciplines, under the direction of the Connaught Committee.  Three years ago the Committee implemented a new, revised suite of programs.  Detailed information on the Connaught Fund and its programs is available here.   When the new programs were implemented, the Connaught Committee agreed to a review after three years to determine whether these programs are having the desired effect.  An important element of this review is the perspective of the University of Toronto research community, hence the survey in which we invited you to participate during the month of October.

Thank you again for your participation in the survey and for your assistance in ensuring the Connaught Committee continues to fill a crucial role in the University of Toronto’s funding opportunities.

Best wishes,

Professor R. Paul Young
Chair of the Connaught Committee
Vice-President, Research & Innovation
