Alison Keith earned her BA (Hons) from the University of Alberta and holds a PhD in Classical Studies from the University of Michigan. She has taught at the University of Toronto since 1988 in the Department of Classics and the Institute for Women and Gender Studies. Her research focuses on gender and genre in Latin literature and ancient Roman society. She is the author of five books and editor or co-editor of another eight, as well as some 75 articles. In the past she has served as Editor of Phoenix, Journal of the Classical Association of Canada (2002-7); President of the Classical Association of Canada (2010-12); and on the Board of Directors of the Society for Classical Studies (2016-19). She is currently Director of the Jackman Humanities Institute at the University of Toronto and President of the Ontario Classical Association, and she edits two series for the University of Toronto Press.
