Professor Gough earned his Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Studies at McGill University after which joined the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC). He is a leading researcher of climate change, including studying climate change impact assessment, numerical ocean and climate modeling, and air quality. He has recently been recognized by the Canadian Association of Geographers for Excellence in Teaching, and for Service to Geography.
Professor Gough has served as Interim vice Principal Academic and Dean, Vice Dean Faculty and Vice Dean Graduate Education & Program Development. In July 2016 he began his term as the Vice Principal Academic and Dean (UTSC). In addition to these roles, he has served as a Governor on U of T’s Governing Council Executive and Elections committees, and has chaired UTSC’s Campus Council.
